Potty Training For Toddlers – Start Early With Best Seats

I started potty training my little one when he was 8 months old. It was quite easy to get him to sit on the potty training seat. All I had to do was hand him any colorful object. If he was bit cranky then the phone would always do the trick. He normally pooped in the morning so we started to sit him on the potty training seat every morning after he had his breakfast.

Our mistake!!

We were surprised how easy it was as he started doing his thing everyday or every other day after we placed him in his seat. And suddenly one day just like that he refused to sit in this potty seat. We tried really hard, handed him the phone and did everything we could but he simply wouldn’t use the potty training seat. It was only later I realized that the seat was very cold. It was winter and obviously nobody would been happy sitting on that cold seat. In the following days we tried to get him to use his potty training seat again but with no luck. After trying for few days, we simply stopped.

Second attempt!

After that it never occurred to us that we needed to potty train him until this incident. One day as I was trying to put him to sleep for his afternoon nap, he was acting very fussy. At one point he even started crying and then I checked his nappy. He must have pooped for sometime now and that had made him feel uncomfortable and irritated. I felt bad and at that moment it striked to me that we hadn’t tried to potty train him for over a year now. He was almost 20 months when this happened. So, next day when he was struggling to poop, I placed him in the seat. It wasn’t easy as he tried hard not to sit. Finally, I got him to sit there and after that he didn’t want to get up. After that, whenever he would start to poop and made that universal poop face, we sat him in his potty training seat. We have been doing this for few weeks now. We don’t have a fixed routine yet but at least it has made the process easy for him. At the moment, we are trying to get him use the potty training seat every time hoping that he will soon develop a routine. Even if he doesn’t, it still is far better than letting him poop in his nappy and walk around uncomfortably.

Start early…

Based on my experience, I think its best to start as early as possible. Once you feel like your babies can sit without any support and they sort of have a pattern, you should start potty training straight away. It will definitely make your life easier and at the same time will save your little ones from being irritated and getting unwanted rashes. During the process we also realized that selected right potty training seats is important. We have handpicked some of the best potty training seats that are  extremely popular among parents. These potty training seats will surely make the process of potty training fun and a lot easier.
