The Evolution of Parenting: Raising a Genius
Through eons, parenting has proved to be, simultaneously, the most complex and yet naturally uncomplicated endeavor for any humans regardless of the environment. As a new parent to our first child, my wife and I have noticed this amalgam of seemingly contradictory aspects of any such journey, first-hand. After spending uncountable stressful sessions of consultation and information gathering, one thing became more evident to us than anything else. Every parenthood is unique and yet surreally laced with commonalities. And in this pursuit of relatively perfect and unique parenthood, we seem to find ourselves in a maze of rational haze. One might even be tempted to wonder, with all the information available on the web, old days were easier for raising an offspring. I beg to differ in that regard.
As parents, our first realization was that parenting evolves. It’s a phenomenon on its own right. While writing this post and subsequent, our goal has been to share with other parents for which they are desperately scouring the web of information technology. As parents, we are forced to thoroughly examine our expectations with regards to our role in parenting a child growing up in this ever-changing landscape of information. We find ourselves facing a conundrum, between avoiding being a helicopter parent and totally ignorant one. Luckily, we may have found a balance and are thrilled to share our experience with the rest of humanity. Be it acquisition of electronic educational toys or simple wooden toys, our goal is to help our child go through the most optimal developmental changes. In this regard we are making sure we leave no stone unturned to make sure we have done everything we can to fulfill that goal. From buying newborn essentials to selecting best books to read for our child, we are trying our best to create the most favorable environment for his development. We even decided to possess few best paintings for kids’ room that would create and enhance any preexisting curiosities of our child.
Parents have to balance between being authoritative guardians and permissive guides throughout the development of a child. Early years of child’s development is usually accompanied by parents being authoritative. In this phase their authority is justified to teach children right from wrong. Also, during this early phase of a childhood, the cognitive development goes through rapid and accelerated growth. It has already been established; children first learn to acquire knowledge before they know how to be educated. Most of the cognitive development starts to differentiate during first five years of childhood. This phase poses great challenges for a successful parenthood as well as opportunities.
Hence, it is our goal to share knowledge and experience we have gathered as caring and concerned parents, throughout this blog. We understand the importance of creating an optimal environment for a child to grow so that the neural development is enhanced throughout their upbringing. To achieve that goal, we have been using a variety of learning tools and material aids. And we would like to take the liberty of making recommendations which we think will help our readers.
